    Oh this is a big can of worms. And I'm answering based on United States rules and regs.

    Ok, first a serving is by definition the amount stated on the package. So for your chicken fillet, a serving is not a fillet, but 129 grams of chicken. If your fillet weighs 150 grams, well that means you are eating about 1 and 1/6 servings.

    Some time ago there was quite a bit of abuse where companies would define a "portion" as whatever silly amount they felt made their product look good – I remember a "portion" of potato chips was once two potato chips. To some extent the government (at least in the USA) has now regulated portion size to "reasonable" numbers. Snacks, candies, and sodas still appear (in my book) to have small serving sizes, such as a soda containing 2.2 servings or a bag of potato chips being 14 servings.

    But now to the numbers. The quantities of things like calories, protein, fat per serving are in general fairly accurate – to a half gram per serving. So the big "buyer beware" point is that the companies can round down to the nearest half gram. If a "portion" has less than half a gram of trans-fat, the company can legally report that as zero grams. If your package of 20 chicken fillets are breaded, the package could actually have almost 10 grams of trans fat, but since each individual portion has less than 1/2 a gram, it is legal to report it as zero grams of trans fat. Which is another reason why companies try to make their official portion size as small as legally possible.

    In a small defense, there does have to be a floor below which you can say a product has zero grams in it. If your chicken fillet had only 0.00001 grams of fat, I'd be willing to call that zero grams for all intents and purposes. Also, any measurement can only be so reproducibly precise, so one needs some decision on how precise to make that. The FDA has decided that a 1/2 a gram is the magic level of precision to be used.

    Now as for how the actually measurements are made, that's beyond my knowledge. But the melamine scare a few years ago, when all sorts of foods imported from China were contaminated with melamine was in part an attempt to make foods look like they had more protein in them than they really did. Since in food, the only substance that contains large levels of nitrogen is protein (the amino acids), one measures protein content by measuring nitrogen amounts in food. Melamine is an industrial chemical that contains many nitrogens, and essentially was being added to fool the tests for protein level. It did not, as the press constantly got wrong, increase the protein level, but was simply a cheat to make food look like it had more protein than it really did. And it killed lots of pets and babies.

    But back to the original issue. Practically speaking, I always round up by half a gram in all my calculations. something says 1 gram of fat per serving, I assume it's actually just a fraction under 1 1/2 grams.

    The rule of thumb about fiber is that as long as your stomach can tolerate it, there's nothing wrong. Most people who try to increase their fiber intake suddenly notice a lot of stomach discomfort (diarrhea, gas, bloating) so the best way to do it is gradually.

    Fiber is good for us and necessary for digestion. It also has a positive effect on our immune system, heart, and cholesterol.

    So yes, eventually if you keep eating more whole grains, fruits, and vegetables, your fiber intake will probably get higher. If you start to notice any stomach upset, just take it easy for a couple days. After some time your stomach will adjust and you'll have no problems.

    I do know in Canada they allow discovery on paper, and occasionally allow a deposition to be taken down. I do not know the local court system well enough to say that of course, and it may require some kind of order or writ for the discovery.

    You should have your lawyer set down all the discovery and confront her in deposition. A good lawyer will get her testifying all over the Richter Scale. That can later be used at trial when she cannot even keep up with her lies.

    You should also subpoena all of her psychiatric records, including counseling records; find out which shelter she was staying at and get discovery from them concerning any statements she made there, and to whom. If a counselor or social worker was present, get that information as well.

    Well, I did enjoy it but there seems to be way too much talking(narrating). Remember, you don't have to describe a person in one hit and let us in on tiny details about them after everything they say. With all of this input, I found it difficult to pin point the actual dialogue in some places.

    "I slowly it and Mr. McNair is staring at me…"- I believe you meant to use "opened" between 'slowly' and 'it'.

    Other than that, I found it humorous and interesting. Just try to keep your descriptions free of unneeded or overwhelming gobs of detail. Dialogue should happen in a time limit but the descriptions seem to drag on a simple conversation of no longer than three swapped statements, making them seem as if each statement was said after five minutes of silence between the two talking. Get what I mean?

    I've had a similar problem. My son went to his first birthday party of a school friend when he was about five. He refused to drink a coke, just because he had rarely drank them and didn't really like the carbonation in them. He asked for a water, and the woman said she didn't have any. Me, being my delightful self, gave my son a bottle of water that I had in the car, poured it into a cup full of ice (which you were supposed to put soda in) and gave it to him. The look on her face was priceless.

    My cousin actually gives her two year old soda in a sippy cup. It's pathetic.

    I personally just ignored the looks and remarks. My three children are all of healthy weight. If they were too skinny, I'm sure their pediatrician would've commented. I'm sure one day she'll realize the problem when her own health begins deteriorating.

    Because sales tax has absolutley nothing to do with who is buying a product, but rather from where the product is being sold. it is a tax for the "privelege" of being able to conduct commerce in a given area and presumably pays, in part, for all of the costs associated with setting up and maintaining a place to conduct commerce

    I don't know why you get dizzy, but the whole "8 glasses of water a day" is just plain rediculous. Yes, you need to stay hydrated to better yourself, no, 8 glasses isn't necessary. If your body is used to 2 bottles, then increase it slightly. But 2 might be all you need to stay hydrated. It's different for everyone. I mean, 8 glasses is going to have a different effect on a guy who's 6' tall and bigger, than a 5' tall guy who's a twig. It just depends on your body. About not seeing results, it's not gonna happen overnight. Weigh or measure yourself once. Exercise, eat right. In a week or two, even go a month, measure and weigh yourself again. It takes a while to see results, don't give up ๐Ÿ™‚
